Housing Affordability Series

Housing affordability has become one of the central economic challenges facing many families today. Rising home prices, limited entry-level housing, and structural barriers in zoning and land use have made it harder for first-time buyers, working families, and seniors to find affordable, stable homes. A variety interconnected factors affect the housing market some of which are beyond the state and local level to control: zoning laws that limit supply, investors buying starter homes, property tax dynamics, and innovative housing models like tiny houses.

This series will look at this variety of barriers as they relate to Kane County.
